About Digital Governance Fellowship
Vision and Objective
The fellowship aims to cultivate "Digital Governors"—a new generation of African leaders equipped to manage the intersection of technology, policy, and society. It moves beyond basic IT skills to focus on the governance of digital spaces, ensuring that Africa’s digital transformation is secure, inclusive, and sovereign.
Program Structure (The Fellowship Journey)
Hybrid Learning (6 Weeks): Masterclasses led by experts from DNS Africa and global partners.
Hands-on "Sand Box" Simulations: Practical exercises where fellows respond to hypothetical digital crises, such as DNS hijacking or AI-generated disinformation.
In-Person Intensive (Bootcamp): A residential "sprint" held at Success Bridge facilities for capstone project (subject to grant support and partners). development and networking.
Capstone Project: Fellows must develop a policy framework or technical solution that addresses a real-world governance gap in their local community or sector.
Core Curriculum Pillars
The fellowship is structured around four specialized tracks:
DNS Security & Infrastructure: Focuses on the Domain Name System (DNS) as a national security asset, covering DNSSEC, DDoS mitigation, and the resilience of the ccTLDs and broader African namespace.
AI Policy & Algorithmic Governance: Examines the ethics, regulation, and strategic implementation of Artificial Intelligence in public service and private enterprise.
Digital Inclusion & Meaningful Access: Explores strategies for bridging the "last mile" divide, community networks, and digital literacy in underserved regions (supported by Success Bridge’s and Partners community data).
Multistakeholder Diplomacy & Encryption: Prepares fellows for international negotiations (ICANN, IGF, AU) and addresses the balance between privacy (encryption) and security.
